Insulating Interior Coating – MIG-ESP® Interior

Insulating Interior Coating – MIG-ESP® Interior

MIG-ESP® Interior is a heat-reflecting thin-film insulation for interior walls and ceilings. Based on DHMb® Double Hybrid Membrane technology, it measurably improves the thermal insulation of existing walls – without renovation, without construction work, without reducing living space.

By reducing heating and cooling demand, energy costs and CO₂ emissions are permanently lowered. At the same time, the coating naturally prevents mould growth – ideal for older buildings, basements, bedrooms and any area with moisture problems.

MIG-ESP® Interior is solvent-free, odourless and medically recommended for residential use. Application is as simple as standard wall paint by roller or brush – no specialist contractor required.

Key benefits:

  • Improves thermal insulation without structural alterations
  • Permanently reduces heating costs and CO₂ emissions
  • Reliably prevents mould growth
  • Medically recommended for living and sleeping areas
  • Solvent-free, odourless, environmentally friendly
  • Easy application like wall paint – by roller or brush
  • Fire class A2, emission class A+

Technical data:

  • Technology: DHMb® Double Hybrid Membrane
  • Consumption: approx. 0.50 l/m² (two coats, smooth surface)

More information

Product description

MIG-ESP® Interior is an interior coating according to DIN EN 13300 based on the MIG DHMb Lining technology (DHMb double hybrid membrane). The MIG-ESP® Interior interior coating can be applied using paint rollers, brushes or the MIG-Zip 52 spray gun. MIG-ESP® Interior can be used on many surfaces throughout the interior with the appropriate primer. Other areas of application include renovations on all paint-bearing surfaces.

Technical data

  • Solvent-free, environmentally friendly and odorless
  • water-repellent, microporous and non-film-forming
  • Building material class A2 (non-combustible), DIN 4102, Part 1
  • highly permeable to water vapor (sd value 0.06 m ± 0.02)
  • Water absorption, w-value after 24 hours < 0.50 kg/m2h0.5
  • Wet abrasion class II
  • Coverage class II at approx. 0.25 L/m²
  • Whiteness: L>94.0
  • Gloss level: matt (DIN 53778)
  • pH value 9.0 [±1.0]
  • Density 1.15 g/cm³ (± 0.1)
  • Reflectance > 90 % with white coating
  • Crack filling up to approx. 0.50 mm
  • antibacterial effect (99.99% MRSA and coli reduction)

Work steps

1. Prepare the surface

The substrate must be clean, dry, solid and free from efflorescence, dust and loose parts or release agents (e.g. formwork oil).

2. Apply primer

Depending on the substrate, apply MIG-ESP® Sealing Primer as a plaster hardener and allow to set for approx. 1 hour. For tarpaulins, use MIG-ESP® PVC Primer.

3. Stir

Mix MIG-ESP® Interior with an electric mixer for approx. 3 minutes until the consistency is creamy.

4. First order

Distribute MIG-ESP® Interior, White evenly in a criss-cross pattern and roll in one direction in the last step.

5. Drying time

24 hours drying time between both coating processes.

6. Second order

Distribute MIG-ESP® Interior, white or colored, evenly in a criss-cross pattern and roll in one direction in the last step.

processing

MIG-ESP® Interior dries quickly and is odorless during processing, which also allows it to be used while the room is in use. Before processing, the material must be stirred mechanically for approx. 3 minutes. Cover all adjacent components well and protect them against splashes.

Do not use in conditions of high relative humidity. MIG-ESP Interior should be applied evenly using suitable rollers, brushes or the MIG-Zip 52 spray gun. The nozzle size should be 2.5 mm. The low-pressure MIG-Zip 52 spray gun with a nozzle size of 2.5 mm specified for the coating can be purchased from us. MIG-ESP® Interior must not be mixed with other materials. When using rollers, brushes or paintbrushes, dilution with drinking water or MIG-ESP Sealing Primer of max. 3% is recommended for better application; when using the MIG-Zip 52 spray gun, dilution of max. 5% is recommended. The object and ambient temperature must not be below 5°C or above 35°C during application. Shading is necessary when exposed to sunlight. Surface drying is achieved after approx. 30 minutes. The drying time for each of the two coating processes is approximately 24 hours under normal conditions (+20°C/65% relative humidity). Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity extend the drying time.

The substrate must be clean, dry, solid and free of efflorescence, dust and loose parts or release agents (e.g. formwork oil). For absorbent substrates and plasterboard, a primer coat with MIG-ESP Sealing Primer is required.

This solidifies the substrate and evens out different absorption behavior. For metal, concrete and plaster surfaces as well as contaminated, penetrating substrates, we recommend MIG-ESP® Special Primer as a bonding bridge. For highly absorbent surfaces such as stucco, porous lightweight concrete, aerated concrete, mineral insulating plaster, foam concrete, foam glass, silicate and insulation boards, it is generally necessary to apply MIG-ESP Sealing Primer twice. For tarpaulins, our MIG-ESP PVC Primer should be used.

►To achieve the full effectiveness of the MIG DHMb Lining technology, a dry layer thickness of 0.40 mm is required! If MIG-ESP® Interior is applied with a roller or brush, experience has shown that two coating processes are necessary to achieve the required layer thickness. When processing colored MIG-ESP Interior, MIG-ESP Interior, white should be used for the first coating process, and the second coating is then colored. Any construction defects or damage must be repaired before application!

consumption

Depending on the type and absorbency of the substrate, approx. 0.50 L/m2 for two coats on smooth surfaces

Rough, structured or highly absorbent surfaces can significantly increase consumption. The exact consumption quantities can be determined by creating test areas.

cleaning

Clean tools thoroughly with water after use. Empty containers completely and recycle them.

storage

Stored in a dry, frost-free and cool place under proper conditions in the original, sealed containers, the product can be stored for at least 12 months from the date of sale. Dyed goods must be used within 3 months.
